Kitchenette, Disaster

by Jos B.
(UK.)

My father was a carpenter and when I was young, I can remember him making a few kitchen cupboards for sale to friends. He called them kitchenettes. A bit like a small Welsh Dresser.
They were a two door two drawer bench unit with an attached overhead shelf unit. This was before formica came out.
One of his first one's that he made, he had to replace. He had used Cedar, and any food stored in it smelled and tasted like Cedar.

Hi Jos,
I can remember those days, late 50's, making kitchen draining boards out of Sycamore, putting the tapered grooves in with a beech moulding plane. I wonder if any are still around? Cheers Bill.
