Braided Line
A string line made out of braided material, rather than twisted.

nylon brickies line

The best all round string line for building work is commonly called a "brickies line". The reason for it's popularity is that being made out of nylon it has a fair amount of stretch in it, enabling it to be easily tensioned into a taut straight line.

The fact that the line is braided rather than just twisted helps in keeping the line free of twists and knots when it is loosened off.
