Ogee Arch
a double curved arch changing from convex to concave circular arcs.

a sketch of an ogee arch

The ogee shape recurs time and again in building construction. In joinery it is a common moulding form and in masonry also. Getting into larger elements there are the arches seen here and as with many arch forms the same shape can be extended into roofs, vaults and domes. The onion domes of Russia come to mind that I show on my ogee roof page.

ogee arched windows in Venice

The windows above were photographed in Venice and this form is very common in that city. This type of arch also features in many Islamic buildings to great effect.
