Roof Edge Protection
In roofing the provision of temporary scaffolding edge guardrails to protect workers from accidentally stepping off the edge of a roof.

edge protection handrails

Now mandatory in many countries where the roof is over a certain height, the idea of these guardrails is to protect workers from accidentally stepping off the edge of a roof. Also from sliding off when the roofs are steeper and the sheeting is slippery.

Many builders seem to just make up their own brackets that clamp onto the roof structure in some way, and then provide a couple of rows of tube and coupler scaffold to the verticals.
