Eyebrow
A low dormer type projection in a roof surface with no side walls. The roof surface flows over it in a curve.

eyebrow dormers

Three eye brow dormers right at the eves of a tiled roof. The terra cotta tiles on this roof are small and flat, about 10mm thick and this makes it easy to get the smooth flowing lines seen here. Larger tiles with deeper profiles could not be used.

eyebrow with small side walls

One again a terra cotta roof with similar flat tiles to the previous example. A popular choice for covering this sort of feature is of course one of the composite shingle products, because of their flexibility.

"What can be added to the happiness of a man who is in health, out of debt, and has a clear conscience?
All for ourselves, and nothing for other people, seems, in every age of the world, to have been the vile maxim of the masters of mankind."
