I don't know about you, but when I see tools like this, heavy and solid it always brings it home to me the backbreaking nature of the work that had to be done to build any fairly old building. People would spend years, maybe lifetimes doing the roughing out with tools like these.

Note the serrated blades on some and the adze form on one of them.
