Rainbow roof, whaleback roof, compass roof.

A pitched roof that has slight convex curves to the top surfaces. Depending on the amount of curve and the ratio of width to height they can range from almost a semicircle to a gothic arch.

Whaleback roof.

I have no photos of one of these and if I had to build one in timber it would be laminated portal aches I guess.

The names seem to hark back to a time of wooden ships and utilising readily available timber, more often than not bent so why straighten it.
